“Are you Happy?”, Doug Fulfer

Like others, I have had successes and failures, have reasons to be encouraged and discouraged, and have things to which I look forward with eagerness and dreadfulness. In the midst of this complicated human life, I am being helped in the Full-Time Training in Anaheim (FTTA) to enjoy Christ in whatever circumstance.

One day recently, as I walked out my door, the question came to me, “Are you happy?” My answer was, “Well, I'm not sad.” To that, the inner speaking, which I believe to be the Lord, responded, “But are you happy?” I answered, “No, this is just another day not much different than the others. In fact, I can easily bring to mind many other murmurings and reasonings.” The Lord responded, “Just be simple and enjoy Me for no reason.”

After this conversation, for the rest of that day, I was at peace and truly happy. This interaction with the Lord encouraged me to have Him as the center of my daily life instead of my problems and circumstantial sufferings, though they may remain the same of may worsen. By His mercy, He is making me one who is happy and restful for no reason other than I have Christ and I have His Body.
